Gorgons are monstrous creatures from ancient Greek mythology.

According to mythology, Gorgons were primarily female monsters in Ancient Greece. There are three Gorgon sisters, daughters of Typhoon and Echidna.

Typhoon and Echidna are the father and mother of all the monsters found in ancient Greek mythology. Their daughters had snakes for their hair and sharp fangs. Their duty was to guard the entrance of the underworld. The names of the three Gorgon sisters are Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa, the most popular of the three sisters.

Medusa was romantically linked with the sea god Poseidon. When goddess Athena found out the truth, she punished Medusa by turning her hair into vicious snakes. Later, Perseus was sent to kill the monster Gorgon sister, Medusa. Perseus defeated Medusa by lopping off her head with the help of a mirrored shield.
