Chiarina

An Italian variation of the common Latin name Chiara, a derivative of Clara, Chiarina is a name mostly given to baby girls. The meaning of Chiarina is 'bright', 'clear', or 'famous' since this name was associated with light during the Middle Ages. Thus, the name Chiarina is given to people to symbolize their future or their smile. It is a feminized derivation of the Late Latin name Clarus which was first given to various Saints, the most notable among them being Saint Chiara of Assisi, the patron saint of television and computers, during the 13th century. She was Saint Francis' disciple and was historically remembered as the founder of the Poor Clares order of nuns. St. Chiarina also composed the first monastic religious order written by a woman called the Rule of Life. This name even finds its place in the Bible and is generally used to name infants following Christianity. Although Chiarina has always been an unusual name, its parent name Chiara was quite popular during the 19th century followed by a steady decline in its demand in the 20th century. It is slowly regaining its popularity among the millennial Italian community and is a rare and poetic term used to name children. An 18th or 19th century natural trumpet is known as chiarina. The Italian nun Rosa Chiarina Scolari, the protagonist of Milanese Resistance movement also bears this name.
