Danae

Traditionally of Greek culture, the meaning of Danae is 'she who judges'. It is a name primarily chosen for girls. Danae is a variant of the name Daniel. In Greek mythology, Danae was the mother of Perseus and founded the city of Ardea. She was told that her son would try and kill her father, Acrisius. Upon learning this, Arcrisius imprisoned her but Zeus found her and gave birth to Perseus. In Hebrew, this name means 'God is my judge'. There is also an asteriod named after the goddess Danae.
