Delfina

The meaning of Delfina comes from the Latin word ‘delphinus’, which is derived from the Greek word 'delphus', translating to ‘a dolphin’, ‘a fish with a womb’. Delfina also means ‘the woman from Delphi’. Delphi was a special precinct in ancient Greece and was referred to as Pytho in the legends. Delphi served as the throne of the high priestess of the Temple of Apollo, Pythia. She was one of the most important oracles who was consulted about important issues about the ancient world. The ancient Greeks believed that this was the center of the ancient world. and this place is marked by a special marble stone monument called the Omphalos of Delphi. The omphalos represented a rock that was thrown on earth by Zeus to mark the earth’s center. The place took its name from a dragon name Delphyne, who was slayed by Apollo.
