Hálfdan is the Danish rendering of the old Norse Hlfdan and the Latin Variant Haldānus. The name Hálfdan is mostly given to people of the male gender. Hálfdanr Gamli who was known in legends as Hálfdan the Old was reputed to be an ancient king from whose bloodline most of the legendary notable lineages came. In the Viking Series Hálfdan was the name of the brother of King Harald Fairhair.
