Hepzibah

Hepzibah was a biblical figure who was in the books of Kings. She was the mother of Manasseh of Judah and the wife of the King of Judah, Hezekiah. Originated in ancient Hebrew, the meaning of Hepzibah is 'she is my delight' or 'my delight is in her'. Even though it is a Hebrew name, Hepzibah is quite popular in the United States. Reports say that the name rose to popularity in the early 2000s. Around 2005, the name was almost out of use in the US; however, within the next few years, it again resurfaced and reached its peak, in terms of popularity, in 2016. A slightly different variation of this name is Hephzibah. The famous British novelist George Eliot named one of her characters Hephzibah in her 1861 novel ‘Silas Marner’. Hepzibah is also the name of a Marvel character who first appeared in The X-Men comic book series in 1977. According to popular belief, a person with this name tends to be sensitive and diplomatic. Some eminent personalities with this name are Hephzibah Anderson, the famous British author who wrote ‘Chastened: My Modern Adventure In Old-Fashioned Romance’, and Hephzibah Menuhin, an American-Australian activist, and pianist.
