Gossip Girl Names

The Gossip Girl names that we know and love so well — Blair, Serena, Nate, et al. — have given way to the next generation of Gossip Girl names on the new reboot of the show.

The teen drama Gossip Girl premiered in 2007 and portrays the lives of wealthy private school students on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The character names fit the ultra-traditional, WASPy stereotypes Gossip Girl calls upon — buttoned-up classics such as Georgina and Bartholomew, as well as preppy surnames and diminutives like Epperly and Tripp.

The show has played a role in the comeback of Blair for girls, the name of one of the protagonists of the original series.

Along with Blair, other Gossip Girl names in the US Top 500 include Asher, Damien, Eleanor, Cyrus, Henry, Juliet, Nathaniel, and Charlotte. Surnames from the show that could easily be adapted as first names include Humphrey, Rhodes, Fisher, and Calloway.

The 2021 Gossip Girl reboot features a more diverse cast of characters with names to match. The standard prep-school roster has been replaced by more interesting and international choices, including Zoya, Julien, and Monet for girls and Aki, Rafa, and Obie for boys.
